摘要: Abstract During postecdysial adult maturation, the bean-shaped accessory reproductive glands (BAGs) of male mealworm beetles produce increasing amounts trehalase. In order to determine when BAGs become competent trehalase, we transplanted pupal into 0-day female adults. After 8 days, trehalase activity had increased in from 4- and 5-day pupae (at time ecdysteroid peak) but not those 1-and 2-day (before peak). 0- were exposed 20-hydroxyecdysone vitro before implantation Increase was dose dependent. Both (ED 50 , 5 × 10 −6 M ) exposure (>6 hr) hormone required are greater for commitment than acceleration cell cycling ( T. Yaginuma, H. Kai, G. M. Happ, 1988 Dev. Biol. 126, 173–181). Since markedly isolated abdomens, factors cephalic thoracic centers sustain production BAGs.
