摘要: Adults show a native language advantage for talker identification, which has been interpreted as evidence that phonological knowledge mediates learning. However, infants also benefit discrimination, suggesting sensitivity to linguistic structure due systematic exposure promotes learning, even in the absence of functional or comprehension. We tested this hypothesis by comparing two groups English-monolingual adults on their ability learn English and French voices. One group resided Montreal with regular spoken French; other Storrs, Connecticut did not have exposure. residents showed faster learning better retention voices compared Storrs-residing peers. These findings demonstrate foreign bolsters language, expanding gradient effect experience perceptual precedes sentence
