摘要: Study objective We investigate the performance characteristics of bedside emergency department (ED) ultrasonography by nonradiologist physician sonographers in diagnosis ileocolic intussusception children. Methods This was a prospective, observational study conducted pediatric ED an urban tertiary care children's hospital. Pediatric physicians with no experience bowel underwent focused 1-hour training session radiologist. The included didactic component on sonographic appearances intussusception, review images positive and negative results for intussusceptions, hands-on live child model. On completion training, prospective convenience sample performed. Children were enrolled if they to undergo diagnostic radiology suspected intussusception. Bedside trained performed interpreted as either or Ultrasonographic studies then radiologists, their used reference standard. Test (sensitivity, specificity, predictive values) likelihood ratios calculated. Results Six completed studies. Eighty-two patients enrolled. median age 25 months (range 3 127 months). Thirteen (16%) received radiology. had sensitivity 85% (95% confidence interval [CI] 54% 97%), specificity 97% CI 89% 99%), value 99%). A ultrasonographic result ratio 29 7.3 117), 0.16 0.04 0.57). Conclusion With limited can accurately diagnose children using ultrasonography.
