摘要: Immunological intervention, in addition to vector control and malaria chemotherapy, will be needed stop the resurgence of malaria, a disease with devastating impact on health 300 500 million people annually. We have pursued vaccination strategy, based DNA immunization mice genes encoding two antigens present sexual stages Plasmodium falciparum, Pfs25 Pfg27, induce biologically important antibodies that can block development parasite Anopheles mosquito thus transmission disease. when administered by intramuscular route, either alone or had most potent transmission-blocking effects, resulting up 97% decrease oocyst numbers midguts 75% rate infection. Immunization Pfg27-Pfs25 fusion protein was less effective Pfg27 elicited sera only modest effects infectivity parasite. These results show for first time result suggest gene should included as part multicomponent vaccine.
