摘要: The superfamily of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) is one the largest and most studied families proteins. We created Hidden Markov Models derived from sorted groups GPCRs our previous detailed phylogenetic classification human added several other models not found in mammals. used these to search entire Genscan data sets 13 species whose genomes are nearly completely sequenced. more than 5000 unique that were divided into 15 main groups, one, Rhodopsin family, was subdivided subclasses. results show genome, Glutamate, Rhodopsin, Adhesion, Frizzled, Secretin, arose before split nematodes chordate lineage. Moreover, subgroups family linage leading vertebrates. also searched expressed sequence tag (EST) databases identified 20,000 sequences match GPCRs. Although represent typically 1 2% predictions, ESTs only 0.01 0.001%, indicating at low levels. provide searchable may be for annotation further analysis GPCR family. This study provides an extensive overview expansion gene repertoire
