摘要: Biofilms are complex microbial communities that grow on various surfaces in nature. The oral micobiota tend to form polymicrobial biofilms, particularly the hard mineralized of teeth, which may impact health and disease. They can cause inflammation adjacent tooth-supporting (periodontal) tissues, leading destructive periodontal disease tooth loss. emergence osseointegrated dental implants as a restorative treatment option for replacing missing teeth has also brought along new artificial within cavity, bacteria biofilms. As case natural biofilms implant trigger infection inflammatory destruction peri-implant tissue (i.e. peri-implantitis). While there strong similarities composition mixed flora between infections, few distinctive differences. immunological events underlying pathogenesis infections qualitatively similar, yet more extensive, compared resulting faster progression destruction. This chapter summarizes current knowledge microbiology immunology including findings from crevicular fluid, exudate tissue. Moreover, it discusses diagnosis approaches infections.
