摘要: This study determines the effects of a water disinfection by-product, 3-chloro-4-(dichloromethyl)-5-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone (also known as mutagen X or MX) and chlorinated tap on genomic instability in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Tap samples collected from Cherepovets (Russia) Boston (MA, USA), were extracted using XAD absorption ethyl acetate elution. MX these extracts then tested for their ability to induce intrachromosomal recombination (deletions DEL events), interchromosomal (ICR) aneuploidy (ANEU) assay. strongly induced DEL, ICR ANEU events with positive dose response no threshold. while evidence induction was weak. The potencies stronger at higher concentrations. estimated contribution varied over 50% low concentrations (which is comparable typical Ames mutagenicity water) between 2 10% highest For water, there only weak induction. consistent results other studies, which reported much than water.
