摘要: The mosquitoes Aedes aegypti (L.) and Ae. albopictus Skuse are the major vectors of dengue, Zika, yellow fever, chikungunya viruses worldwide. Wolbachia, an endosymbiotic bacterium present in many insects, is being utilized novel vector control strategies to manipulate mosquito life history competence curb virus transmission. Earlier studies have found that Wolbachia commonly detected but rarely aegypti. In this study, we used a two-step PCR assay detect wild-collected samples products were sequenced validate amplicons identify strains. A loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) was developed for detecting selected specimens as well. We 85/148 (57.4%) wild from various cities New Mexico, 2/46 (4.3%) St. Augustine, Florida. not 94 Deer Park, Harris County, Texas. both Mexico Florida wAlbB strain pipientis. Wolbachia-positive colony established pupae collected Las Cruces, 2018. infected females transmitted their progeny when crossed with males Rockefeller aegypti, which does carry Wolbachia. contrast, none Cruces mated
