摘要: Protein phylogeny, based on primary amino acid sequence relatedness, reflects the evolutionary process and therefore provides a guide to structure, mechanism function. Any two proteins that are related by common descent expected exhibit similar structures functions degree proportional of their similarity; but independently evolving should not. This principle impetus define protein phylogenetic relationships interrelate families when possible. In this mini-review, we summarize computational approaches criteria use establish origin. We apply these tools distant superfamily between several previously recognized transport families. some cases, available structural functional data evaluated in order substantiate our claim molecular phylogeny reliable structure
