摘要: Background Choroid plexus carcinomas (CPC) are rare brain tumors with a dismal prognosis. Although the role of surgery has been well established, question whether chemotherapy improves prognosis is still under discussion. Methods We created database all cases choroid (CPT) reported in literature up to year 2004 determine prognostic factors and different therapeutic modalities. This was validated by comparison an existing until 1997. Results Of 857 documented CPT (median patient age at diagnosis, 3 years), 347 were CPC, 15 atypical papilloma (APP), 495 (CPP). Histology significant factor (P < .0001; log rank). Within subgroup patients both irradiation linked better (P < .005). The 104 CPC who received had statistically survival than those without (P = .0004). When subgroups defined radiation treatment, remained beneficial nonirradiated (P = .0001). benefit also when analysis restricted less completely resected (2-year overall (OS) 54.8 ± 7% (standard deviation (SD) vs. 24.4 ± 7%, P < .0001) this further divided into smaller subgroups. Likewise, multivariate analysis, highly significantly Conclusion Patients should receive chemotherapy.
