摘要: Objective: To use data from an evaluation of the Flinders University Parallel Rural Community Curriculum (PRCC) to inform four immediate challenges facing medical education in Australia as student numbers increase. Design, setting and participants: Thematic analysis obtained focus groups with students undertaking PRCC, a year-long undergraduate clinical curriculum based rural general practice; individual interviews key faculty members, clinicians, health service managers community representatives 13 practices one urban tertiary teaching hospital South Australia. Data were collected 2006 re-analysed for this study January 2009. Main outcome measures: Participants’ views grouped around themes identified challenges: how expand venues training without compromising quality education; encourage graduates practise under-served rural, remote outer metropolitan regions; engage sustainable way private sector; reverse current decline altruism humanism during school.
