摘要: Carvacrol and dimeric chalcones are the respective bioactive components of Lippia sidoides Myracrodruon urundeuva, popular medicinal plants Northeastern Brazil with proven antimicrobial antiinflammatory properties. Periodontal disease is associated inflammation microbiological proliferation, thus study aimed to investigate effect a topical gel based on carvacrol in experimental periodontal (EPD) rats. Animals were treated and/or gel, immediately after EPD induction, three times day for 11 days. Appropriate controls included study. weighed daily. They killed 11, mandibles dissected alveolar bone loss was measured. The periodontium examined at histopathology neutrophil influx into gingiva assayed using myeloperoxidase activity. bacterial flora assessed through culture gingival tissue. Alveolar significantly (p < 0.05) inhibited by combined compared vehicle non-treated groups. treatment reduced tissue lesion histopathology, decreased activity growth oral microorganisms as well weight loss. combination has beneficial upon this model.
