Lost in translation: Maximizing handover effectiveness between paramedics and receiving staff in the emergency department

摘要: The purpose of the present study is to investigate perceptions by paramedics and hospital receiving staff about what enables constrains handover in ED. This a qualitative interviews with 19 paramedics, 15 nurses 16 doctors (n = 50) from ambulance services ED two states Australia. Three main themes emerged that were evident at both sites three professional groups. These were: difficulties creating shared cognitive picture, tensions between 'doing' 'listening' fragmenting conuuunication. Recommendations arising as how could be improved are need for common language between ED, shared experiences understanding members team development standardized approach receiving staff.
