摘要: • Objective. —To compare the efficacy of 3-day vs 10-day treatment with a combination amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for children uncomplicated urinary tract infections to determine role host factors, including vesicoureteral reflux, bacterial virulence adhesins, in outcome. Design. —Randomized, double-blind, controlled trial. Setting. —A pediatric infectious diseases clinic at an urban medical center. Patients. —Thirty-seven infections. Interventions. —Treatment 3 days or 10 antibiotics dosage 20 mg/kg per day 5 three divided doses. Measurements Main Results. —The success rate was 82% (14/17) compared 55% (11/20) ( P =.09). Among 35 patients infected Escherichia coli, all adhesin-negative isolates were treated successfully regardless duration treatment, whereas only 14 (56%) 25 involving adhesin-positive clinically cured =.015). Two failures group reflux. Conclusions. —We conclude that is insufficient afebrile childhood both factors affect AJDC . 1993;147:1090-1093)
