Messaris’ (1997) concept of syntactic indeterminacy provides one plausible explanation for why contained in PMSV ads might subsequent changes attitudes behavior. The study explored this by coding specific antitobacco features, merging these codes a telephone survey teens, testing processing. number unrelated cuts suspenseful (intense imagery second-half punch) increased older teens. An additive index comprised was associated with both younger Theoretical practical implications are discussed.
