The use of complementary and alternative (non-conventional) medicine in cancer patients in Turkey.

摘要: Summary The purpose of this study was to define various methods complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) used by cancer patients their characteristics in Turkey. sample consisted 100 who were monitored the oncology outpatient inpatient departments two hospitals. Almost all participating receiving conventional treatment, 36% which also using CAM methods. Female individuals with lower educational background showed a tendency use more often. most frequently method appeared be herbal therapy, commonly herb stinging nettle. Most obtained information about from friends, media vendors. Patients' responses indicate that "the desire do everything possible fight disease" idea it may helpful, at least it's not harmful" common reasons for CAM. Of patients, 79.3% acknowledged varying degree benefit they use. indicated "feeling better both physically emotionally". findings are similar results other research conducted on subject
