摘要: Background: Chronic inflammation and airway remodelling are characteristics of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Hyaluronan (HA) is an extracellular matrix compound with proinflammatory activity. HA levels in induced sputum from patients COPD were measured related to local inflammation. The expression hyaluronan synthase 2 (HAS2) hyaluronidase (HYAL2) was analysed lung tissue. Methods: Sputum obtained 18 (forced expiratory volume 1 second (FEV ) 62% predicted (range 20–76)) 14 healthy smokers. inflammatory markers using ELISA assays. Lung sections five severe Results: significantly higher the than controls. population appeared consist two subpopulations either high or moderate levels. subgroup had lower FEV group. In addition, neutrophil influx interleukin-8, soluble tumour necrosis factor receptors R55 R75 those Semiquantitative analysis revealed enhanced HYAL2 tissue compared control subjects. Conclusion: These data indicate a relationship between levels, severity disease, suggest breakdown lungs COPD.
