Vitamin D Deficiency Is Not Associated with Changes in Retinal Geometric Parameters in Young People with Type 1 Diabetes

摘要: Changes in retinal geometric parameters predict risk and progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR). We have shown that vitamin D deficiency (VDD) is associated with DR. hypothesized VDD mediates changes parameters. Retinal vascular were assessed using a semiautomated computer program photographs from young people type 1 diabetes (T1D) summarized as central arteriolar venular equivalents (CRAE, CRVE), fractal dimension, length-diameter ratio, branching angle curvature tortuosity. Parameters compared between those without DR (25-hydroxyvitamin concentration ≤ 50 nmol/L). also across quartiles levels. Median CRVE was higher patients (median (IQR) 247.3 μm (31.3) versus 238.8 μm (23.5), ). Fractal dimension marginally greater (1.49 (0.06) 1.47 (0.07) There no difference CRAE, CRVE, angle, tortuosity 25OHD. In conclusion, T1D; however, not measures, suggesting an earlier role the time course pathogenesis.
