摘要: Wireless Video Sensor Networks (WVSNs) - a type of WSNs comprise sensor nodes that can capture, process and communicate video frames. The battery powered have limited hardware resources while processing communication are resource intensive tasks i.e., require high-end processors, large memory bandwidth. encoding is popular method used to reduce the overhead but being an inherently complex it results in higher computational energy-drain on nodes. This establishes interesting computation-communication tradeoff for energy efficient (encoding transmission) WVSNs. In this paper, we study under Intel-imote2 based single-hop multi-hop networks testbed by empirically evaluating selected implementations MPEG-4 (Part 2) H.264/AVC encoders. analysis has been carried out characterize performance encoders terms efficiency, compression efficiency distortion. experimental show WVSNs, over H.264 whilst MPEG-4.
