摘要: [Extract] When an individual is bitten by a female Anopheles sp. mosquito and becomes infected with Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), the parasites exist as extracellular, uninucleate sporozoites in circulation for less than 30 minutes. After this time, they infect hepatocytes each sporozoite develops into schizont containing more 10,000 merozoites. The growing parasite causes hepatocyte to rup- ture, releasing merozoites bloodstream where one can subsequently invade erythrocyte. This initiates cycle of intra-erythrocytic stage development, rupture, re-invasion, leading 10-20 fold increase numbers every 48 hours. These asexual erythrocytic-stage are responsible clinical manifestations pathology disease we call malaria.
