摘要: The objective of the research was to investigate effect polyethylene glycol (PEG) or urea supplementation in sheep and goats fed a basal diet Acacia saligna wheat straw. 3 dietary treatments were: (1) Control: ad libitum A. saligna+ 400 g/d straw (95% DM) (basal diet); (2) Basal diet+50 PEG 4000; (3) diet+1% (on DM basis) sprayed onto 30 min prior feeding. All animals maintained live weight, regardless treatment. readily consumed preference In both DMD OMD were higher (p<0.05) where included compared other two treatments. Contrary findings by researchers there no significant difference DMI, between corresponding treatment groups. positive N balance. For goats, rumen ammonia concentrations increased with use either PEG. these groups maximum exceeded 50 mg/L, considered minimum required maximise microbial growth. This threshold, however, only for period 8-11 h. Of those measured, levels generally highest at 4 h post None measurements control group approached mg/L. It is unclear how why feed intake weight
