Embryonic expression patterns of the drosophila decapentaplegic gene : separate regulatory elements control blastoderm expression and lateral ectodermal expression

摘要: Patterns of decapentaplegic (dpp) transcripts derived from the intact gene were compared to patterns generated by partial dpp transgenes in Drosophila embryos. Sequences closest coding regions, hin region, sufficient express lacZ-tagged mRNA indistinguishable endogenous expression dorsal and terminal cells at blastoderm stage, ectoderm during germ band elongation, narrow stripes ectodermal along edge boundary between lateral ventral neurogenic regions shortening. The latter pattern responded segment polarity genes naked wingless. However, these sequences not drive other normally expressing dpp, including gnathal segments, clypeolabrum, foregut, midgut visceral mesoderm, hindgut. Two separate regulatory found region. A 479 bp region upstream promoter was necessary for segmented endoderm. Cis-acting elements 2 kbp second intron directed blastoderm, acted on a heterologous promoter, P-element information maternal effect dorsal/ventral patterning genes. © 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
