摘要: Background The National Cancer Data Base (NCDB), a large sample of cancer cases accrued from hospital-based registries, is sponsored by the Commission on American College Surgeons and Society. NCDB permits detailed analysis case-mix, treatment, outcome variables. Objective To provide an overview contemporary status subset patients with head neck in United States. Methods NCDB, which obtains data US as well Canadian Puerto Rican hospitals, 4583455 between 1985 1994. Of these cases, 301350 (6.6%) originated neck. We address 295022 limited to 50 States District Columbia. Cases were segregated into earlier group (1985-1989) permit 5-year follow-up later (1990-1994) analyze more group. Comparison both periods identification trends. Results largest proportion arose larynx (20.9%) oral cavity, including lip (17.6%) thyroid gland (15.8%). Squamous cell carcinoma (55.8%) was most common histological finding, followed adenocarcinoma (19.4%) lymphoma (15.1%). Income level (low), race (African American), tumor grade (poorly differentiated) notably associated advanced stage. Treatment commonly surgery alone (32.4%), combined irradiation (25.0%), (18.9%). Overall 5-year, disease-specific survival 64.0%. demonstrated best (91.1%) hypopharynx worst (31.4%).
