摘要: Reasons for performing the study: The use of alfaxalone and medetomidine administered as an i.v. infusion to maintain anaesthesia has not previously been reported in horse. Objectives: To investigate hydroxpropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (Alfaxan) a field anaesthetic short-term surgical procedures Hypothesis: Alfaxalone-medetomidine is suitable horses. Methods: Eleven healthy colts underwent 45min with (2mg/kg bwt/h) (5μg/kg routine castration. Horses were premedicated acepromazine (0.03mg/kg bwt), (7μg/kg bwt) guaiphenesin (35mg/kg before induction (1mg/kg bwt). Colts intubated endotracheal tube 100% oxygen insufflated at 10l/min. physiological variables monitored included pulse rate, respiratory direct arterial blood pressure, gases quality inductions recoveries scored. Results: Overall, period conditions acceptable was good excellent. All stood on their first attempt (mean ± s.d.) 37 13.5min after stopped. During anaesthesia, cardiopulmonary data, presented range mean values each time point were: heart rate: 45-47 beats/min; pressure: 104-112mmHg; 8 breaths/min; PaO: 117-172mmHg; PaCO: 50-56mmHg pH7.34-7.37. Conclusions potential relevance: co-administration
