摘要: The Hypertension Optimal Treatment (HOT) Study is a prospective, randomized, multicenter trial being conducted in 26 countries. Its main aim to evaluate the relationship between three levels of target diastolic blood pressure (< or = 90, < 85 80 mmHg) and cardiovascular morbidity mortality hypertensive patients. In addition, study will examine effects on low dose, 75 mg daily, acetylsalicylic acid (ASA, aspirin) placebo. HOT Study, basic antihypertensive treatment initiated with calcium antagonist felodipine at dose 5 daily. If not reached, additional therapy either an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor beta-adrenoceptor blocking agent given. Further dosage adjustments are made accordance set protocol. As fifth final step, diuretic may be added. Inclusion patients was stopped April 30, 1994. At that time 19,196 had been randomized. There were 9,055 (47%) women 10,141 (53%) men average age 61.5 +/- 7.5 (SD) years. enrollment, 52% receiving treatment. These entered wash-out period least 2 weeks before randomization. randomization untreated 169 14/106 3 mmHg treated 170 14/105 mmHg. On August 15, 1994, data available for 14,710 10,275 patients, who completed 6 months treatment, respectively. reduction 22 after months.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
