摘要: Carbon monoxide (CO) is a gaseous transmitter that known to be involved in several physiological processes, but surprisingly it also becoming promising molecule treat pathologies including stroke and cancer. CO can cross the plasma membrane activate guanylate cyclase, increasing cGMP concentration activating some kinases, PKG. The other mechanism of action involves induction protein carbonylation. directly indirectly modulate function ion channels at membrane, which turn have important repercussions cellular behavior. One group these hemichannels, are formed by proteins as connexins (Cxs). Hemichannel allows not only flow ions through their pore release molecules such ATP glutamate. Therefore, modulation impacts communication, having capability affect tissular Here, we review most recent results regarding effect on Cx hemichannels possible pathologies. © 2015 IUBMB Life, 67(6):428–437,
