摘要: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value RNA-binding protein Musashi-1 in adult patients with primary gliomas. has been suggested be a cancer stem cell-related marker gliomas, and high levels have associated tumor grades hence poor prognosis. Samples 241 gliomas diagnosed between 2005 2009 were stained an anti-Musashi-1 antibody using fluorescent staining protocol followed by automated image acquisition processing. area fraction intensity cytoplasm nuclei quantified systematic random sampling 2 % vital area. In WHO grade III tumors survival multivariate analysis (HR 3.39, p = 0.02). We identified sub-population glioblastoma (GBM) superior prognosis 0.65, 0.038). addition benefitted most from post-surgical treatment, indicating that may predictive GBMs. conclusion, our results suggest are GBMs, although further validation is needed. find combination immunofluorescence quantitation feasible, robust, reproducible approach for quantitative biomarker studies.
