Oral contraceptive use among young women in southern Sweden.

摘要: STUDY OBJECTIVE--The aim was to survey oral contraceptive usage among women under 25 years of age. DESIGN--This a cross sectional population study based on information collected by questionnaire mailed randomly selected individuals. SETTING--The consisted Swedish born between 1960 and 1964 living in the southern health care region which has about one half million inhabitants. PARTICIPANTS--The sample 3477 women, whom 2573 or 74% agreed participate were interviewed November 1990 April 1991. MAIN RESULTS--Of participating, 2254 (88%) reported having used contraceptives at some time, 77% them started during their teens. Teenage start use found be related lower age menarche, higher marriage/cohabitation rate, rate teenage full term pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, frequency teetotalism, smoking. Longterm antipsychotic drugs appeared less common who early, but no relationship with other pharmaceutical drug found. No presence first degree relative cancer. CONCLUSIONS--A large proportion using teens, report long duration both before pregnancy years. The few have never do not appear representative general population.
