摘要: Adenosine deaminase activity (ADA) was assayed in pleural fluid and serum of 42 subjects with effusion. Twenty-nine them had TB effusion the remaining 13 due to non-TB respiratory diseases. Serum adenosine ac- tivity were also measured 32 pulmonary tuberculosis patients without equal numbers healthy controls systemic diseases for comparative analysis. The attending medicine out-patient department (MOPD) B. P. Koirala Institute Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal taken as study subjects. ADA activities spectrophotometrically by method Guisti Gallanti. mean significantly increased tubercular (34.53 ± 10.27 IU/l) compared (26.54 4.76 IU/l), (p=0.004), those disease (16.71 5.16 (p=0.0001) (15.53 4.4 (p=0.0001). tuber- cular (90.29 54.80 higher (24.43 9.28 Using lowest cutoff value enzyme (25 a test sensitivity 72.41% specificity 81.53% obtained. (45 diagnosis 76.10% 100%, respectively. Therefore, measurement has utility when other clinical laboratory tests are negative.
