摘要: Abstract In 1992, the Norwegian Parliament adopted a plan for brown bear Ursus arctos management. The main goal of was two-fold: (1) ensure viable populations within five core areas along border neighbouring countries; and (2) limit damage caused by on sheep Ovis aries grazing open rangeland, which has increased over last few years. this study we have examined possibility attaining both these political aims. Sheep losses in two rose considerably during period 1981–1993, when Scandinavian population 1·5% year. We found significant correlation between estimated number bears loss ewes areas. No such relationship control (considered to be without bears) adjacent area. no lost grazing. Shooting that presumably killed had effect following season, probably because Norway less than immigrating from Sweden. Killing more is not compatible with aims management plan. It difficult reach all goals under current situation. will continue increase unless changes are made husbandry methods Alternatively, must moved out set aside re-establishment bears.
