摘要: Previous work has indicated that abnormal methylation processes may be associated with schizophrenia. In this study, leukocytes from patients schizophrenia were incubated methyl-/sup 14/C-L-methionine and the evolved /sup 14/CO/sub 2/ measured. With increasing concentration of methionine, was lower in than normal control subjects. The incorporation 14/C into protein same both groups, when carboxyl-/sup used thus excluding possibility altered or oxidation methionine molecule as a whole responsible. observed differences methionine-methyl metabolism suggest an abnormality transmethylation methyl group to CO/sub is That occurs peripheral tissue indicates not restricted central nervous system.
