摘要: Mucins are high-molecular-weight glycoproteins expressed throughout the gastrointestinal tract, with a key role in mucosal protection and function. In gastric cancer expression of MUC5AC MUC1 is reduced denovo MUC2 occurs. With progressive loss tumor differentiation increased stage, further reduced, decreases. Isolated (the intestinal phenotype) correlates metastatic spread poor survival. There emerging evidence that acts as an oncoprotein when overexpressed. The cytoplasmic tail interacts H. pylori virulence factor cagA major effector wnt-β catenin intracellular signalling cascade. Polymorphism gene has been identified patients may have prospective stratification high-risk subjects. also mediates resistance to recombinant HER2/neu antibody trastuzumab. Future research efforts will examine targeting for therapeutic purposes.
