Sustainability indicator development—Science or political negotiation?

摘要: Abstract The efforts to develop sustainability indicators have strongly increased since the beginning of 1990s, often led by intergovernmental processes. More recently, a number indicator development processes been initiated within large research projects that aim design tools for assessments, funded European Union. provides particular challenge scientists, given essentially normative dimension concept “sustainability”. Thus, we argue, is process both scientific “knowledge production” and political “norm creation”, components need be properly acknowledged. Based on respective theoretical framework comparing five cases (three science-led two processes), find norm creation not fully explicitly recognized in paper concludes discussing implications processes, with regard participation representation as well adjustment over time.
