摘要: In recent years, several theories have been proposed in attempts to identify the neural mechanisms underlying successful cognitive aging. Old subjects show increased activity during performance of tasks, mainly prefrontal areas, which is interpreted as a compensatory mechanism linked functional brain efficiency. Moreover, resting-state studies concluded that elders disconnection or disruption large-scale networks. We used MRI and verbal n-back task with different levels memory load cohort young old healthy adults patterns networks associated working default mode. found elderly coexists task-related overactivations certain areas reorganizations within these who were able activate additional recruit more bilateral frontal pattern network achieved on task. balanced plastic reorganization underlies This observation allows integration date regarding aging brain.
