摘要: The purpose of this study was to determine if feeding dogs medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), fish oil, and L-carnitine enriched foods offsets age-associated changes in serum fatty acids (FA) carnitine metabolites. Forty-one healthy Beagles, mean age 9.9 years (range 3.1 14.8), were fed control or one two treatment for 6 months. All complete balanced met the nutrient requirements adult dogs, had similar concentrations moisture, protein, fat (approx. 7.4%, 14.0%, 18.1%, respectively). diets both contained added (300 mg/kg) 0.6% (treatment food 1) 1.5% 2) oil. Treatment 2 also increased MCT from coconut corn reduced animal fat. Composition FA determined by gas chromatography methyl esters. Metabolomic profiles samples extracted supernatants that split run on GC/MS LC/MS/MS platforms, identification relative quantification small Body composition dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. Among dog groups, there no change total-lean-body weight, total protein albumin concentrations, based time dietary treatment. Serum metabolites decreased geriatric (>7 years) vs. mature (≤7 supplementation with attenuated effects aging. ratio PUFA SFA significantly greater at baseline (P≤0.05). eicosapentaenoic docosahexaenoic a dose-dependent manner. Dogs consuming lauric myristic FA, SFA, MUFA, arachidonate (all P≤0.05) their increased. In summary, MCT, counterbalanced aging circulating these compounds.
