摘要: The picture-winged species Drosophila grimshawi is unique among Hawaiian in its wide geographic range, having populations on several islands of the archipelago. This distribution contrasts with pattern single-island endemism observed most group; significantly, it does not concur predictions founder theory, where speciation typical outcome events involving colonization a new island. To examine this anomalous situation, we have taken phylogenetic approach an attempt to resolve relationships taxa and decipher probable scenario. We obtained both morphological molecular data for all D. as well closely related pullipes, two outgroup species, using scanning electron microscopy score ultrastructural features chorion or eggshell, PCR amplification nucleotide sequencing acquire sequence Yp1, one three Yolk protein genes. In addition, used available Protein electrophoretic jousting, oviposition, mating behavioral characters. Analyses these sets, either individually combination, indicate that there are separate ecologically distinct clades within complex. One clade includes Kauai Oahu grimshawi, pullipes from Hawaii, which classified ecological specialists respect their oviposition breeding substrate. other generalist Maui Nui island results do previously proposed hypothesis originated derived complex further suggest need taxonomic revision.
