摘要: Aim: Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim the present study was to test whether plasma basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) levels predict future cardiovascular (CVD) occurrence from Veterans Affairs Diabetes Trial. Methods: Nearly four- hundred veterans, 40 years age or older, having mean baseline duration 11.4 were recruited outpatient clinics at six geographically distributed sites Trial (VADT). Within VADT, they randomly assigned intensive standard glycemic treatment, follow-up as much seven one-half years. examined patient population during randomized treatment. Plasma bFGF determined sensitive, specific two-site enzyme-linked immunoassay visit all 399 subjects. Results: One hundred-five first events occurred these best fit model risk factors associated time (in study) over year period had significant predictors: prior event, (hazard ratio [HR] 3.378; 95% confidence intervals [CI] 3.079- 3.807; P < .0001), (HR 1.008; CI 1.002-1.014; =.01), age, 1.027; 1.004-1.051; =.019), triglycerides, 1.001; 1.000-1.002; =.02) duration-treatment interaction (P =.03). Intensive glucose-lowering significantly decreased hazard ratios for CVD (0.38-0.63) patients known 0-10 years, non-significantly increased (0.82-1.78) longer duration. Conclusion: High level ofplasma predictive biomarker
