The treatment of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy by dexamethasone.

摘要: Objective To investigate whether dexamethasone supression of fetoplacental oestrogen production can reduce obstetric cholestasis. Design Observational study. Setting Department Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University Tampere, Finland. Subjects 10 women, at between 28 37 weeks gestation, with intrahepatic cholestasis pregnancy. Interventions Treatment 12 mg oral daily for 7 days, after which the therapy was gradually discontinued over 3 days. Main outcome measures Serum oestriol, oestradiol, total bile acids ALAT were measured before during on days 4 also day 12. Differences tested by paired t test. Results Itching disappeared or relieved in all patients. oestriol level fell significantly 1 treatment, serum oestradiol acid levels from beginning therapy. Conclusion Dexamethasone is a drug choice treatment colestasis pregnancy.
