摘要: a b s t r c The relationship between caprine PrP gene polymorphisms and susceptibility or resistance to scrapie has been actively investigated in recent years. ORF of the is highly variable different breeds goats. We studied 240 goats comprising Norwegian white (NW), Small East African (SEA) their crosses. A total seven distinct polymorphic sites with amino acid substitutions were identified. discovered two novel polymorphisms; A116V Q220L SEA NW respec- tively. These mutations are reported here for first time. allele was found at low frequency only Distribution this other goat its role determining unknown. Five acids codons: 32(G → Stop), 142(I M), 146(N S), 211(R Q) 240(P S) also observed as previously described studies. Two silent codons 42(ccg cca) 138(agt agc) detected, both linked most animals. majority seem have little variation compared crossbred coding region closer 'wild type' form. In study, TSEs higher while those associated some levels occurred lower frequency. Further studies on impli- cations status worldwide importance. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
