摘要: There is ample evidence to suggest that improving the on-farm productivity of small-scale farmers and integrating them into commercial markets a promising strategy for alleviating poverty leveraging agriculture as an engine wider economic growth. Yet, persistent market failures in large parts sub-Saharan Africa have limited impact this strategy. As result, there increasing interest study state community – underlying rural governance issues affect farmers. This paper contributes area inquiry by examining role farmers' cooperatives local systems Ethiopia. By drawing on both qualitative quantitative data sources, offers new insights potential national development strategies, interactions between formal informal systems, possible avenues through which can contribute development.
