摘要: Understanding complicated networks of interactions and chemical components is essential to solving contemporary problems in modern biology, especially domains such as cancer systems research. In these domains, biological pathway data used represent chains that occur within a given process. Visual representations can help researchers understand, interact with, reason about complex pathways number ways. At the same time, datasets offer unique challenges for visualization, due their complexity heterogeneity. Here, we present taxonomy tasks are regularly performed by who work with data. The generation was done conjunction interviews several domain experts biology. These require further classification than provided existing taxonomies. We also examine visualization techniques support each task, discuss gaps space revealed our taxonomy. Our designed development design future applications. conclude suggesting research directions based on motivated comments received experts.
