摘要: In a retrospective study, we have analysed sera from well-characterised Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) patient group for antibodies that react with gangliosides. Of 95 GBS patients and 85 control analysed, found 14 (15%) of but only one had the gangliosides GM1 and/or GD1b not GM2, GD1a GT1b using sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This pattern reactivity suggests binding to carbohydrate structure Gal(beta 1-3)GalNAc which is shared between some glycolipids glycoproteins. Similar been previously in subpopulation lower motor neuron disease. present predominant immunoglobulin class these anti-glycoconjugate was IgG rather than IgM. A correlation presence prognosis terms disability at 3 12 months after presentation. Patients also higher incidence previous Campylobacter infections rest group, although significance this remains be determined.
