摘要: The use of sexed semen in dairy and beef farms ensures the production animals desired sex, resulting a reduction costs an improvement environmental sustainability. Several methods have been developed over years, but most them were abandoned due to their limited efficacy. Currently, only commercially available method for separation X- Y-chromosome-bearing sperm is fluorescence-activated cell sorting. However, this technique expensive has usefulness industry, considering that it cannot produce doses with number artificial insemination. Immunological emerged as attractive alternative flow cytometry proteomic knowledge Y-sperm could be useful development new method. In review, we identify main applications semen, describe existing highlight future research opportunities field. We consider immunological methods, based on cell's surface proteins differentially expressed between Y-sperm, interesting promising approach sexing.
