摘要: The newly hatched chick obtains its fatty acids almost completely from the lipids of egg yolk as these are transferred to developing embryo during 21-day period incubation. Since diet laying hen greatly influences acid composition lipids, and presumably also resulting chick, we tested how quickly what extent varying amount n-3 in would modulate level brain retina chick. White Leghorn hens were fed commercial or semi-purified diets supplemented with 10% fish oil, linseed soy safflower oil. Eggs, together brain, retina, serum chicks, then analyzed for composition. responded hen's most change occurring by 4 weeks. There was a linear relationship between linolenic content levels this serum. In chicks oil diet, total acids, including 22:6(n-3), elevated twofold sevenfold relative controls. led very low yolks only 25% control chicks.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
