摘要: Abstract Rhizobium lipochitooligosaccharide signal molecules stimulate multiple responses in legume host plants, including changes gene expression, cell growth, and mitoses leading to root nodule development. The basis for transduction the plant is not known. We examined cytoplasmic free calcium hairs using calcium-sensitive reporter dyes. Image analysis of injected dyes revealed localized periodic spikes levels that ensued after a characteristic lag following application. Structural features required cause nodulation alfalfa are also essential stimulating spiking. A nonnodulating mutant defective spiking, consistent with possibility this blocked an early stage perception.
