摘要: Between July 1980 and February 1984, six jaguars (two males, four females) were fitted with radio-collars monitored for a cumulative total of 105 months, in the Pantanal region southwestern Brazil. Mean home range size (minimum convex polygon) five them (one male, was 142- 1 km2. during dry season 54·3 km2, whereas wet it significantly smaller, 12·8 overlap females 42%. Use gallery forest patches exceeded availability these habitat types animals' ranges, open grassland used less than expected on basis their availability. distance moved between locations consecutive days 2·4 km (0.2-10·4 km). The mean one-day movement male jaguar (P<0·001) larger that females. travelled by all animals intervals greater other months. Jaguars more active daytime night-time (P<0·001). Overall level activity did not differ from season. With body size, may require food areas species' range. This, addition to differences prey annual land, appear influence difference populations.
