摘要: The Pantanal of Brazil is an important area for jaguar, Panthera onca, conservation. Nevertheless, the region harbours largest beef cattle herd country. Livestock depredation by jaguars creates conflict with ranchers, which makes conservation species a challenging issue. We describe use electric fences and other management alternatives at ranch in Pantanal, Brazil, as measure to decrease jaguar predation. also present assessment deterrent pumas, Puma concolor captive conditions two zoological parks. suggest that certain settings, method can be effective reducing livestock depredation, provided proper equipment used adequate maintenance. Effectiveness field improved when conjunction practices.
