摘要: Flame retardants including magnesium hydroxide (MH) and huntite hydromagnesite (HH) were used to develop halogen free flame retardant (HFFR) compounds based on ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) for wire cable applications. Cone calorimeter limiting oxygen index (LOI) results show that cross-linking affects not only mechanical properties, but also retardancy. Consequently, retardancy is mainly influenced by type of mixing ratio base polymers a lesser extent cross-linking. Tensile strength increased with increase MH, while elongation at break decreased MH in cross-linked formulations. On the other hand, HH tensile HFFR 12 MPa, 200%, LOI 40% was developed meet stringent specifications industry.
