摘要: A stereotactic device (SDM) was developed for performing consistent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the rat brain. The SDM by adapting a radiofrequency transmit/receive head coil 4.4 cm inner diameter (quadrature birdcage coil), and utilizing partial acrylic construction positioning elements. small provides improved resolution accuracy image, while holder permits repeatable accurate identified brain structures. This system several advantages over existing experimental MRI devices. ensures that is always placed in center uniform fashion. Standardized skull optimizes image quality orientation In addition, widely-utilized coordinate described Paxinos Watson can be employed to assist identification structures facilitate surgical planning. compatible with recently-developed radiosurgery Gamma Knife, thus permitting planning performance using same system. also ability perform at different times, avoiding need prolonged anesthesia during an study. Finally, allows repeated same, identifiable positions longitudinal studies. utility this demonstrated here examining time course cerebral damage evolved within radiosurgical focus after gamma irradiation.
