Clinical and neuropsychological comparison of psychotic depression with nonpsychotic depression and schizophrenia.

摘要: Objective : This study compared the clinical and neuropsychological characteristics of patients with psychotic depression to those non schizophrenia. Method Two hundred eighteen over age 45, including 30 who met DSM-III-R criteria for unipolar major features, 28 depression, 160 schizophrenia, were examined. Subjects evaluated on several measures as well tests attention, learning, memory (retention), psychomotor speed, motor skills. Results The three groups comparable in education. severity depressive symptoms depressed without psychosis was similar. schizophrenia ; they more impaired than nonpsychotic skills, learning. cognitive deficits seemed be trait-related. Conclusions findings provide additional support validity a diagnostic category distinct from depression.
